Can You Believe It? Mate Breaks Bank On First Online Poker Tournament!

Well I have always been one that has loved to gloat about my experiences online, mostly fuelled by the fact that I have ended my session with a handsome profit but the recent ‘lads meet’ which sees me catch up with some of the other guys from college could not have stunned me any more if I’d have tried.

We headed out to the local bar to meet up with the lads that aren’t exactly local anymore and I had all my stories ready to be told to those that were interested (they all ask about how my online poker activities have gone over the last month as we used to play a lot back in the days) but it seems that my tales of $900 profit for the month were not enough to create the crowd stopping buzz that was soon to hit me slap bang in the face.

Usually we will head to the bar, I’ll gather round the interested participants in the ‘story time with me’ clan and then share my recent happenings online with the group but the last meeting brought something that was unbelievable into the tight nipped circle, an unknown face within the group, Wes, who usually sat about and talked about less important stuff!

Wes came and sat with us and basically told us that he had heard about my successes within the online poker industry and thought that he would have a go at earning a little extra income himself, and man did he do just that.

Thinking that his micro table showdowns were going to offer little excitement I thought that he could tell his story and then it would make my profits look a whole lot bigger, man was I wrong.
Basically he took a huge gamble straight from the off, choosing an online poker room based on which could offer him the most attractive poker bonus, loaded his account and headed straight for the multi table tournaments, you know the sort, the ones where you win a large percentage more than the stake you have placed.

Well the story went on and even I was locked in as he told of how his stack went from plush to poor in the matter of hands before returning to a higher state of existence, before he made headspace and entered onto the final table of the tournament after almost four and a half hours of online poker action.

Apparently he finished the tournament in 4th place after failing to hit a hand worth leading out of the pocket with, something that I have to admit I do believe after playing a number of these tournaments myself, but he netted a very nice $4000 (not the exact figure but you get the idea) for his $16 buy in.

Well that was me rocked, I wanted to test out to see whether this was even really but he spoke the speak and walked the walk, surely something had to be wrong somewhere, either that or I was going to have to step up my play a little more if I was going to keep ‘story time with me’ alive!
Wes revealed how he went to TexasHoldemOnline.com and looked for the best online poker room for him to join, pointing out that their list of poker sites in the UK were great and left no information uncovered, choose the site he wanted and just went with it.

Ever seen a baby cry when it doesn’t get any attention? I could well have been like that at that very moment in time but a few drinks later I forgot all about it and moved on to the dance floor to give my solo of ‘awkward dance so no one owns up to being with you’ and a great time was had.
This month I intend to once again reign supreme but we’ll see how his beginners luck holds up!
